Have some questions about your Phyto2 product? We can answer them!

Below are some frequently asked questions and solutions. If you are unable to find the answer to your question here, please feel free to contact us.

Q: Can I use Phyto2 in freshwater aquariums?
A: Phyto2 only uses marine species of phytoplankton and therefore should only by used in saltwater aquariums.

Q: Help, my tank has turned green! What do I do?
A: In rare cases, if an aquarium has a high nutrient load, Phytoplankton may reproduce rapidly and cause the water to turn green while it consumes the organic waste in the tank. Skimming can help reduce it, and a uv sterilizer will eliminate the problem entirely.

Q: Why is Phyto2 lighter in color than some Phytoplankton products?
A: Phyto2 Phytoplankton has a guaranteed analysis of at least XXXX cells per milliliter. It may appear light since we are not mixing other species of Phytoplankton. This is actually better and you are receiving an equal if not more product.

Q: Why is Phyto2 Phytoplankton cheaper than most other live Phytoplankton products?
A: Culturing Phytoplankton requires a lot of labor and equipment. However the larger size and number of cultures involved the cheaper it is to produce. Phyto2 is produced on a large scale with innovative methods that include water recycling and culture technology that has been developed by our staff. In this way we are able to produce more product for a lower cost. Also in order to bring you the freshest product Phyto2 is not sold through wholesalers but direct to your local store eliminating an additional markup and time lag.

Q: Why does the “Golden Phytoplankton” smell so strong?
A: Phyto2’s Golden Phytoplankton is actually Isochrysis XXXX which has a relatively thin cell wall. This makes it ideal for certain copepod specie, corals, and larval zooplankton. However this combined with certain metabolic functions of the microalgae can produce a strong sweet scent. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THE PRODUCT IS SPOILED. Before disposing product refer to the the “Born on date” on the bottle and ask your local supplier. Refridgerated Microalgae will stay alive and relatively fresh for approximately 120 days. (Dependant on the conditions and temperatures the product was stored at and exposed to. )

Q: How much Phyto2 should I add to my tank?
A: 5ml per 25gallons 3 times a week.
